Each year around March, the City’s largest service organization holds its formal dinner dance. This year, the Key Club dance was on March 28th at Eastridge Country Club. With almost 250 students, sponsors, and distinguished guests, it certainly was a packed house. First up was dinner. Afterward, speeches were made by John Georgiafandis (sponsor), Tyler Howard (current president), and Tysen Hardman (2015-2016 president) regarding the past year, Key Club progress, the upcoming year, and introducing new officers, as well as a special Senior tribute. This year, following tradition, one lucky Senior member was chosen to serenade his date in front of the crowd. Ryan McBride and Mackenzie Allen were the lucky two chosen. The Freshmen also got to take part in one of Byrd Key Club’s longest tradition: the pinning of the Freshmen. After dinner, each Freshman’s date ceremonially pins the Key Club lapel pin on his suit or blazer. “I remember when I was a Freshman at the Key Club dance.” Says Daniel Bacon, Senior Key Club VP.  “It feels great to know that in such a big school, you’re a part of a great organization with such an amazing family.”
